EU strategy on gender equality: what's next?
On 9 June 2015, the European Parliament discussed the EU strategy on gender equality for the next 5 years, calling for clearer targets and better monitoring. The Resolution on the EU Strategy for equality between women and men post 2015 (2014/2152(INI)) was adopted. It calls on the Commission to propose new laws containing binding measures to protect women from violence and want all member states to ratify the Istanbul Convention as soon as possible. Special attention is given to new forms of violence against women and girls such as cyber-harassment, cyber-stalking and cyber-bullying.
